If You Want TV Everywhere, You Can Have it!

Want to watch the game in the basement while you clean it out? Want to see the race in the garage while you work on your car? Want to relax by the pool and see your soap operas? While you’ve actually been able to do that for a long time, now you can do it with no wires, no headaches and no hassle!

Used to be, you’d have to run cables and wire all over the house and yard to be able to do that. And you’d have extra expenses with multiple cable or satellite boxes to have to pay for, and even if you didn’t have those, you’d be watching TV off of rabbit ear antennas and it would usually look terrible. Not anymore!

Now, you can use what’s called a Slingbox to stream your TV over your local area network, enabling any mobile device, whether it’s a computer, your iPhone or even a Sling enabled TV to pick up the stream over your WiFi network. With a Slingbox enabled DVR, you can even stream recorded TV over your network while you record another channel. The possibilities are limitless, especially when you use your computer or iPhone as a DVR scheduler.

No longer do you have to have your TV wired to the walls in order to watch those HBO movies or the game on ESPN. No longer do you have to miss the game because you have to clean out the basement or change the oil in your car. No longer do you have to miss those precious moments on your soap operas because it’s just too pretty by the pool. Now, you really can have TV everywhere!

Dish Network has incorporated Sling technology into receivers and DVR's including HD receivers, so you can enjoy TV everywhere you want to watch it. Check it out now, and be amazed at what you can see and where you can see it.

Trustworthy Nursing Degree Programs Online Today!

The world economy has been in constant flux for the last 100 years. Technology has caused the flow of information and communications to increase exponentially, causing the job markets and capabilities to shift back and forth like the river bed of the Mississippi during flood season. One financially solid market will be great for a few years, then turn out to be a major bubble, causing huge layoffs in the job market and instability in the rest of the economy. There’s only one job market that has seen a constant and consistent growth, and isn’t likely to ever see a downturn. That market is the medical field in general, and those with a nursing degree in particular.

Let’s face it, doctors will always be in demand, but the part of the medical field that will continue to grow is the nursing market. Nurses are in higher demand than doctors, and a nurse with a BSN nursing degree can pretty much walk into any hospital in the country and get a job. And not just any job. They can get a job with good pay, good benefits and a lot of perks not offered to even those in management positions in a lot of other companies. Not only is generous vacation time available, but retirement packages, low cost or free health care, great insurance packages for other needs like vision and dental and a lot of other options and perks are being offered.

While having any nursing degree translates into a good income, upgrading from an RN to a BSN degree online gives you the best of both worlds. You can work as an RN and take the BSN degree program classes online, when time allows. This means that with a little extra effort and a bit of time spent away from more fun activities than studying, and you’ll be able to enjoy the benefits of a better job without a lot of sacrifice.

Great nursing programs are also a hallmark of Colorado Christian University where a great education is a job well done. Teaching faith with the
degree programs is where CCU is different than most other universities, and its that difference that is important.

The term "project management methodology" sounds like a term best used by a C-level executive might throw around in a board meeting. Or a phrase that an economic professor might base an entire lecture series on. Does that mean someone who has a project management certificate and that practices “project management methodology” has anything to do with the real world?

Natural First Aid Remedies are a Great Alternative

Whenever most of us get hurt or sick, the first thing we do is head down to the local pharmacy and stock up on all the over-the-counter remedies we can find. We forget that many of these medicines were created as substitutes for the natural, tried and true remedies, so they would be more convenient and commercially available. Before medicines were created by pharmaceutical companies, we often looked to nature to help heal our ailment. Those natural first aid remedies are again making a comeback. Fast, safe and effective, it makes sense to know a few of the most common natural first aid remedies.

Aches and Pains
Muscle aches and pains are a common complaint, especially when our jobs are physically demanding and as we get older. Fortunately, there are many natural remedies that have been proven effective over the years.
• The minerals Magnesium and Calcium have been used quite effectively to help relax the muscles.
• Arnica is known to help soreness and sprains. You can apply this natural anti-inflammatory directly to the skin in a cream or take by mouth. It helps to reduce bleeding while promoting healing.

However, they can be dangerous depending on the type of insect and whether the person is allergic. For tick bites especially, always see a doctor. Some of the most common and effective remedies for simple bites and stings include:

HD Channels and Satellite TV on a Budget

We have all seen the advertisements for HDTV. The picture is amazing. How wonderful it is to be able to watch movies in their original 16:9 movie theater format without having the cheesy black bands at the top and bottom of the screen. Haven't we all walked through the stores and “Ooooh”’ed and “Ahhh”’ed at the huge 62” screens showing those demos that are designed to show off the picture? It's obvious that HD is the way TV is going with even local stations switching over. Shouldn't we be able to get free HD channels without taking out a second mortgage?

The answer to that used to be “not possible”. However, that was when HD was new. Even the 27” HD TV’s could cost as much as $1000. Finding sources for HD programming was also few and far between. And let's not forget expensive! DVD players couldn't even support HD TV without a major investment on the consumer’s part. Fortunately, all that has changed.

Now HD channels from satellite providers is being offered for free when you sign as a new customer or upgrade your existing package. Most will even throw in HD receivers and/or HD DVR’s so you can record your favorite shows in HD for later. HD TV’s can now be found almost everywhere. It used to be, there were only two places you could find HD TV’s. At big box stores where you would pay thousands of dollars, or at a rent-to-own place where you could wind up paying thousands more by the time you paid it off. Now, they are available at these places as well as places such as Craig’s List, Ebay, and other classifieds.

You no longer need to pay thousands of dollars for a new television. While 27” wide-screen LCD HDTV’s used to be in the thousand dollar range not even 5 years ago, now they can be had new for as little as $300 or for $250 if it’s a certified refurbished unit. And if you are willing to settle for a used TV, but one in perfect condition, they can be found for as little as $150 if you find one at a moving sale or on eBay. A good rule to follow for a used LCD TV in good shape is about $10 for every inch. This makes a used 42” TV should be in the $400 range, but the smaller the screen the smaller the price tag.

HDTV has become so commonplace that there isn’t a way to put a premium price on it any more. Even satellite TV providers know that the best way to get new subscribers is to offer free HD. So, even if you’re on a budget, you can enjoy high definition channels without feeling guilty.

DISH Network's HD Satellite TV customers have access to hundreds of video and audio channels, the most International channels in the U.S., industry-leading Interactive TV applications, and the best sports and movie channels in a wide variety of HD.

How Alternative Licensing Programs are Creating Teachers

Before this new program was put into place, the only way to become a teacher was to major in education at a university and carefully follow the four-year process of education classes. Along with that was student teaching and then the subsequent licensing process. Unfortunately, such a rigid model for licensure created issues and resulted in national shortages of public school teachers. To correct the problem, states began implementing alternative licensing programs which are new means by which teachers could gain a teaching license without having to go through the formerly required education process.

What is an alternative licensing program?

Before the mid to late 1980's, there was no other way to become a teacher than with a teaching degree. Now, alternative licensing programs allow teachers to become teachers without the traditional route of becoming a teacher. The biggest goal of the program is to equip prospective teachers with a license that will enable them to find a job as an educator. Every state now has their own alternative licensing program, albeit each program is different. Most programs include a period of training for the applicant, during which he or she works under a veteran teacher.

Who is alternative licensing for?

Alternative licensing is for anyone who wants to be a teacher but did not receive a teaching degree in college. The program allows those with a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution to turn that into a career in education. In order to qualify for most alternative licensing programs, the candidate must pass a Board of Education-approved exam such as the PRAXIS. The candidate must additionally pass a criminal background check.

How long does an alternative licensing program take?

Before one can ever begin an alternative licensing program, they must have the proper qualifications regarding education. The first phase of the program is the application phase. This may take several months and will require submitting paperwork, completing a background check, and passing an examination. Once this phase is complete, the teacher will become an alternative teacher. This is more of a trial and training period. The trial could take as long as nine months to a year but once completed, an the candidate will be eligible for an official teacher’s license.

Colorado Christian University offers an Alternative Teacher Certification for those with a bachelor’s degree, a teaching position, and need a teaching license in either early childhood, elementary, secondary or special education. Check out CCU for information on their degree programs and how they can help you further your education.

Coffin or Casket -- What Is the Distinction?

People often wonder if there is a difference in between a casket and a coffin. The words are often used interchangeably to mean the same thing, but there is a difference in a casket and a coffin. The confusion is definitely understandable.

American versus UK English
Casket and coffin are recognized in the U.S. to mean a burial container. In the United Kingdom, however, casket is often a word used for a small jewelry box while coffin is used only when meaning a burial container.

Distinction Between Caskets and Coffins
Caskets, as they are called in the U.S., are a recognizable shape - a rectangle. They are available in various woods and metals with many different designs. The lids are generally constructed in two pieces with the top half opening for viewing. Over the years, caskets have been everything from crudely-made pine boxes to more sophisticated ones. In years past, caskets were often made by furniture makers as they were more frequently needed in a time when mortality rates were much higher.

A coffin is more specifically a burial container with a shape different from that of a casket. A coffin is typically broad at the top to accommodate the width of shoulders, and tapers toward the bottom. Coffins usually have a one piece lid, hinged at the side. Originally, they were built this way to be prudent in the use of wood, which was quite costly. This style of burial container, traditionally made of oak or elm, is still quite commonly used throughout Europe.

The Meaning Behind the Words
On the surface, there seems to be little difference between caskets and coffins, however, lots of meaning can be bound up in a word. Words are very powerful. While the word "coffin" merely suggests exactly what it is -- a "casket" suggests that it contains something precious and valuable. When the term was first used, the mortality rate of children was 50%, and many people had experienced deep losses. It seemed more fitting to call it a casket as it was now the resting place of one they held dear. The simple term seemed to provide comfort to the grieving families.

Caskets Today
Although the subtle difference in meaning may be lost on many today, caskets still serve a very important role in providing some measure of comfort in a difficult time. Today, families can choose a funeral casket that reflects their loved ones. For many years, families were limited to choices on hand, and their own budget. The more ornate and beautiful caskets were often out of range for many Americans. The Internet, however, has become a source for families to find savings and a much wider selection. Now, a family can search online from several suppliers to find the right casket. They can find the one that fits all their criteria as well as honoring their loved one.

Dignified Caskets gives you choices and options. They offer great prices on a large selection of wholesale caskets and free delivery to the funeral home or location of your choice. Dignified Caskets lives up to their name by standing behind the caskets they sell and treating you with dignity and respect.

Pay Per View Programming is Easy on the Budget

It can seem at times that there are new movies coming out all the time. In some respects, this is actually the truth. The film industry will release anywhere from 2 to 5 new movies to theaters every weekend. These movies that have made the big screen then drop to DVD and Blu-Ray within just a few short months. As consumers we can end up spending hundreds of dollars every month just trying to keep up. And that doesn't include re-watching your favorites, the oldies but goodies.

For example, if one were to go to the movies twice a month and buy two new releases when they first come out, the monthly bill could easily top $100 a month. In today’s economy, that $100 per month out of the budget can hurt. If you would rather have that money in your pocket, renting the movies is a great option. It also gives you the option of watching the movie on your own time and in your pajamas if you wish.

In order to rent these great movies, you have to drive to the video store, spend forever picking out the videos you want to watch (if they are even still there), then head back home. And who knows what else you’ll wind up doing while you’re out that will cost more money?

What is the solution? Pay Per View Movies you can rent directly from your remote control. New release movies, not long out of the theater, all available with the click of a button. Going out in the cold and snow during the winter, or the heat of the day during the summer simply to rent a video is completely unnecessary. With a few clicks of your remote or a simple phone call to your service provider, you can be watching that same movie within minutes.

With the convenience of On Demand, the flexibility of Pay Per Views goes one step further. Not only can you rent the movie you want to see while standing in the living room, but you can watch it whenever you choose. Another great option with Movies On Demand is you can pause it to answer the phone, let the dog out, or get snacks from the refrigerator.

Pay Per View brings you the latest and greatest movies at about the same time as the DVD releases. However, they will save you money. The downside may be you only get to watch it once, but it allows you to have the same convenience at a price that matches the rental prices from the video stores. All in all, taking advantage of the Pay Per View channels and On Demand is definitely a win-win situation.

DISH Network offers a variety of pricing and packages including High Definition, high-speed Internet, and a free upgrade to an HD DVR receiver. Visit DISH today or call 1-800-333-DISH (3474) to take advantage of all they have to offer.
